Plot:
Princess Twilight Sparkle's crown, the Element of Magic is stolen from Equestria by Sunset Shimmer, and disappears into a magic mirror that leads to another world. Princess Celestia charges Twilight with recovering her crown as it is necessary for the Elements of Harmony to work together and protect Equestria. Twilight along with her dragon assistant Spike travel through the mirror to this new world, where Twilight finds herself now a teenaged human girl and Spike as a dog. The two struggle to come to grips with going to school while meeting new friends that bear close resemblance to her pony friends in Equestria. Twilight works with them to become the Princess of the Fall Formal to win back her crown from the human version of Sunset, and to "change the destiny of these two parallel worlds", according to the film's theatrical listing.
